An Unexpected Birth Plan

"Hi my name is Jazzy!

As I lay in this beautiful milk bath - all I can think about is having my daughter @smileejade any day now… I planned to have her in the water surrounded by beautiful flowers at the Brooklyn Birthing Center! This time around I was ready to stay in the water because I knew what to expect- But turns out lil mama had different plans. So goodbye #birthplan

She was 3 days late! So thats 40+ weeks also known as 10 months! At first, it didn’t bother me because if she would have stayed in a week longer our birth would have been recorded for documentary called Human on Netflix. But hey I guess she wasn’t ready for all that attention haha.  My water broke In the comfort of my own home (YES!) but while I was doing a deep house cleaning literally scrubbing the couch (half completed) - At first it felt like a little discharge and then a gush of pee… But it didn’t seem like my water broke and it was greenish looking. Immediately I called my midwife and she said it might be the mucus plug or another pre- rupture like I had with my son.

Come to find out it was meconium- When your baby poops for the first time, they emit a waste called meconium. This usually happens after birth  So all the green stuff on my floor is pooh. Unfortunately that also meant that I had to get transferred to the hospital incase she ate some or we needed any type of machinery. I was extremely crushed and did no want to go to the hospital  - I loved my experience at the Brooklyn Birthing Center - but I also understood that this was out of my control.

Within 3 hours of being at the hospital, she was born at 12:19am - Friday the 13th of March in room 13! She came out covered in meconium with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. At the hospital I felt so defeated - I did something that I didn’t think I’d ever do.

Just remember it's okay if your birth plan didn’t go as planned - as long as your both safe thats all that matters! 'I love my poo poo baby'!
